i2Droid — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026
i2Droid ("the app") is a direct, phone-to-phone file transfer tool. It moves files over an encrypted WebRTC connection straight between two devices. This page explains what data the app touches, and — just as importantly — what it never does.
We do not store your files. Period.
i2Droid is strictly a file-to-file transfer app. Photos, videos, and any other file you send are transferred directly between the two devices over an encrypted (DTLS/SRTP) WebRTC data channel. We do not upload, store, cache, back up, or have any access whatsoever to the contents of the files you transfer — not on our servers, not in any database, not anywhere — whether you're online or using the fully offline (no-internet) pairing mode. Once a transfer finishes, the file exists only on the sender's and receiver's own devices, exactly as if they had connected a cable between them.
We do not collect your location
i2Droid does not request, collect, or store your device's location under any circumstances. Nearby device discovery (when used) relies only on local network information, never GPS or location services.
What the app accesses on your device, and why
- Camera — used only to scan a QR pairing code shown on the other device. Camera frames are analyzed locally on-device to read the code and are never recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere.
- Photos/videos — accessed only when you pick a file to send, or when saving a file you've received, both direct results of your own action in the app.
- Local network — used to discover and connect directly to the other device for a transfer, including the fully offline pairing mode which needs no internet connection at all.
- Microphone — the underlying WebRTC technology the app is built on can declare this permission on some platforms, but i2Droid's own code never requests or captures audio (every media request the app makes explicitly excludes audio).
Signaling (pairing handshake)
To open a direct connection, two devices first exchange a small amount of connection metadata (not file content) — either through the app's own signaling relay when both devices are online, or by scanning a QR code directly, with zero server involved, in offline mode. This handshake data is not stored after the connection is established.
Optional account & history
i2Droid works fully as a guest — no account is required to send or receive files. If you choose to sign in, the app may sync your transfer history metadata (file names, sizes, timestamps — never file contents) across your own devices. You can wipe this history at any time from within the app.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand how many people use the app and from which regions, the app sends anonymous usage statistics to the developer's own Google Firebase project: a random install ID generated on your device (not linked to your name, email, phone number or account), the app version, platform, your device's language, region and time zone, the date you first opened the app, and, for each day, how many times and for how many seconds the app was open. We do not use it to identify you, do not collect your precise location or IP address for it, and do not share it with advertisers. Only the developer can read it. Uninstalling the app stops it; to have your install's statistics deleted, contact us.
Ads
i2Droid is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). The app shows a banner and occasional full-screen ads. All ad requests are non-personalized: i2Droid does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, does not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not use your data to build an advertising profile. Ads never have access to the files you transfer.
To serve and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect limited technical data such as device and app information, IP address (used to estimate a coarse, country-level location), ad interactions, and diagnostic data. This data is processed by Google under its own policies — see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), the app asks for your consent before ads are requested.
Ad-Free subscription
You can remove all ads with the optional Ad-Free yearly auto-renewable subscription, purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is processed entirely by Apple — i2Droid never receives or stores your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether an active Ad-Free subscription exists on your Apple Account, so it knows not to show ads. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings.
No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information. Apart from the ad-serving data described above, which Google processes to deliver non-personalized ads, we do not share your information with third parties.
Data deletion
Local transfer history can be cleared at any time from the app's "You" tab. If you signed in, you can permanently delete your account and any synced history metadata at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us using the details below — deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
